Canchasin' Association

2009 Rule Book

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”    Matthew 5:16

Hello, and welcome to Can Chasin’ Association.  We are glad you decided to join us! We are a not for profit organization, promoting the sport of barrel racing in Green Country.  We have scheduled arenas within a 50 miles radius of Bristow, OK in an effort to cut down on fuel prices.

Our goal is to provide a family-oriented association with a Christian atmosphere.  We welcome young and old, beginners to the pros to join with us.  We encourage a competitive spirit from our membership while showing each other the love and care that our savior has shown to us!

There will be year-end awards given away. Our goal is to give saddles to division winners IF our membership can support these awards.  Other useful and quality awards will  be given to all who are in the qualified year-end standings.

The 2008 schedule and important information can be accessed at  www.canchasinok.com .  Schedules and pertinent information will also be available at the jackpots.  We hope you have a great year!

New for 2009

We will have no membership fees!  To accrue points for year-end awards you must pay a $15 nomination fee per set of points.  Nomination must be paid before any points accrue! By paying a nomination you are automatically a member of CCA.  While in good standing, all members shall have equal rights, interests and responsibilities with respect to the association and its property; shall obey and be bound by all rules of the association and its property; shall obey and be bound by all rules of the association and decisions or actions of the board of directors.

If you are running more than 1 horse or running the same horse in the Novice Class also, you must pay an additional nomination(s) before points will accrue on the additional horses or classes.  If a member chooses to nominate for more than one set of points, they must designate the rider/horse combination at the time of purchasing the nomination.  If a rider needs to substitute a horse for any reason, they must notify the office at time of entering the jackpot.  If you must use a horse substitution, it cannot be on another horse that you have previously nominated. THERE ARE NO HORSE SUBSTITIONS IN THE $100 NOVICE HORSE CLASS.  In addition, you may substitute a rider for a medical emergency or any other event in which you cannot attend a jackpot (no more than two jackpots).

Any non-nominated rider  may compete in any class they are eligible to compete in, but will not accumulate points or be eligible for CCA year-end awards.

The legislative rule making powers of the association shall by held by the board of directors. GENERAL RULES

There shall be thirteen (13) approved jackpots and a finals (finals include jackpot number 14).  The jackpots will be scheduled in an attempt to benefit members of the association.

$100 Novice Horse Class (Straight Jackpot, no divisions)

Rules For the $100 Novice Horse Class.

1.   Purchase your Can Chasin' nomination  for 2009.  Your can be for either the Open or Junior Class.  You will run in either class (open or junior) as you normally would, paying your entry fee and accruing points and winning money in the open or junior class.

2. To be included in the $100 Novice Horse class your horse cannot have won more than $100 in barrel racing and you must pay an additional nomination. Nomination will have to be purchased before any points will accrue in the Novice Horse Class.

3. When entering a jackpot you will pay an additional $5 (added onto your entry fees for the open or junior class).  The $5 is your entry for the Novice Horse Class.  There is no payout at the jackpots in the Novice Horse Class but points will accrue for year-end awards.  All money paid into the Novice Horse Class (nominations and entries) will go towards year-end awards.  We will guarantee a saddle to first place if we have at least 10 horses nominated and an average of 10 at each jackpot.

4.  You will only make one run at the jackpot.  Your time will apply to your Open or Junior Class and your points will be applied to whatever division you fall and money will also be won if you place in any division.  Your same run will also apply to your Novice Horse Class.  The Novice Horse class is NOT a divisional race, it is a straight time barrel race.  The pattern is set the same for both the juniors and open so both junior and open runs are used for the Novice Class time.  The fastest novice horse will receive 25 points, second highest 24 and so on.  Places 25th and slower will all receive 1 point each.  Knocking over a barrel in the Novice Class will be a plus 5 and you will still accrue points. Breaking the pattern will receive no points.

5.  You may not substitute another horse for your Novice Horse.  You may substitute a rider (must be a CCA nominated member).  The open points will be given to the rider who is riding.

There will be a $5.00 office charge per competition run (included in your entry).  These charges are not figured in payoffs.

Before and after exhibitions are $4.00 each or 3 for $10.00.

Books will close in each class when the first horse runs in that class.
